Aglaia  Maria  van  der  Kroon

Owner of Aglicia Arts / Artist / Designer

Hi, I'm Aglaia. The first thing people usually say when they meet me is, 'Wow, what a unique name! Where does it come from?' I bet that's what you're thinking too, right? Well, Aglaia is a Greek name. I'm named after one of the three Graces, Aglaea (or Aglaya). And just so you know, I'm not Greek. My parents just really liked the name. I'm actually 100% Dutch, born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

MY  CREATIVE  TEAM

Even though I'm a freelancer, I've got a trio of special partners who keep me on my toes. They're the unsung heroes of my home office, and without their presence, I might just revert to cavewoman status.

MY SKILLS

  • I am unhappy with the final result of my commission.
I'm sorry! It barely ever happens, but sometimes the sketch can be very different from the final drawing. I will never refund a finished commission, but I will try my best to understand what it is you don't like and apply some changes to your commission, such as changing colors, fixing a detail, or making minor changes to the lineart. However, I will not completely change the pose of your character or alter a fully furnished background to a different scene. These aspects should have been addressed during the approval of the sketch.
  • I lost my commission, can you send it again?
Of course! Contact me and I'll re-send it.
  • My commission got refused, what now?
My commission got refused, what now? In some cases, I will refuse a commission. This may happen if the guidelines provided are not followed, or if I feel uncomfortable with the topic. When a commission is refused, you will always get your money back, and I will explain the reason why by email.
  • Can I get a refund?
In most cases, no. However, if I haven't started on your commission, you can certainly receive a refund. Be sure to contact me within a day if you change your mind.
  • I don't have a reference of my OC
I prefer to have one, although I am flexible. If you have a drawing where their face and hairstyle are visible from the front, I can use that. I would rather not rely solely on a description because I might interpret it differently than what you meant. As a solution, I suggest you look up an online character creator or try to create your character in something like The Sims and send me some screenshots.
  • Will you draw NSFW art for extra money?
Nope, sorry. However, I do draw mild romance and tasteful nudity. If that's what you had in mind, you can order a commission without any problem!
  • Design
So, I studied Graphic Design in middle school and high school. Even though I'm not a Graphic Designer anymore, I still feel like I've learned valuable things, such as composition, color theory, typography, and photography. These elements are all very important to an artist. For example, with my knowledge of composition and typography, I can design comics that are easy to follow and look appealing. I can use different fonts to set different tones or fully design booklets with covers for print. Moreover, logo design is another crucial aspect I've learned to appreciate. Logos are the face of a brand, and they require careful consideration of composition, color, and typography to effectively convey the essence of the brand. Whether it's for a personal brand or a project, a well-designed logo can make a significant impact, enhancing recognition and professionalism. What I also value as important knowledge is photography and color theory. With these, I know how to create an appealing image, and with a bit of typography thrown in, I have all the skills needed to craft an impressive YouTube thumbnail. • Artist
I've been an artist for as long as I can remember; my archive goes all the way back to 2006, and I wish I had started collecting my art even before that, because I was already drawing as a toddler (I have photo evidence!). While in school and even after I graduated, I drew daily, wrote stories, and made my own comics. I always thought I wouldn't be an artist without proper education, but without realizing it, I had become a self-taught artist. My hobby started to look so professional that I even began selling art here and there in my spare time. Over the years, the idea of becoming a full-fledged artist returned to me, and this time, I decided to seize it with both hands and make a living from it! In addition to drawing, I also delved into fanfiction, wrote roleplays, crafted doujinshis and comics, and created countless original characters. My imagination knew no bounds as I brought these characters and stories to life through art and writing. Alongside my creative pursuits, I developed a passion for collecting artbooks, manga, and figurines, each adding to my inspiration and admiration for the art form. My shelves are filled with treasures that fuel my creativity and serve as reminders of the diverse and vibrant world of art and storytelling.
  • Creativity
I've been a creative individual for as long as I can remember, and it's not just illustration and Graphic Design. I have plenty of other creative hobbies. As mentioned before, I enjoy writing stories. I've crafted several fan fictions and scripts for my own comics and doujinshis in the past. Cosplay is another passion of mine. While I may not know how to use a sewing machine, I love hand-sewing costumes and styling my own wigs. Additionally, I have an obsession with nail art and take joy in giving myself a fresh manicure and gel coat. Building things is yet another avenue for my creativity. I've constructed a replica of Majora's Mask as a night light and built my own Catio. Speaking of Catios, I also enjoy watching woodworking and home makeover shows. Interior design has even crossed my mind as a possible career path in the past. Creativity is something that flows through my veins. If you're interested, check out my DIY page! Also, gotcha!
  • Can I get a refund?
Only if the item is returned to me first. I will not pay for the shipping fees.
  • My product is damaged, now what?
Contact me and send me pictures of the damage. I'll assess the situation to determine if a refund, discount, or repair is required.
  • How do I know what the shipping costs are?
Once you proceed to check out, the shipping will be automatically calculated based on your country, taking into account the size and weight of the item. Since I am located in the Netherlands, shipping within the EU tends to be reasonably priced, especially if you are located nearby. However, shipping costs outside of the EU do increase slightly. If the cost is too high, you can always exit the check out and reconsider.
